Come meet the writer and artist to learn about the power of connections that can be made through storytelling and art.

Meet the artist:
Philip Scruggs (Wyld Tha Bard), is a poet, singer, rapper and dancer from Midlothian, VA. His passion for music blossomed in 7th grade where he began rapping and quickly fell in love with the parallels that were found in the art of rapping and spoken word, eventually leading him to poetry. His first poem was published while he was a student in Chesterfield County. Scruggs is currently a freelance writer and producer of new music and spoken word to be released later in 2018. You can find his work on Instagram: @wyldchyldbardlyfe or Facebook: Wyld Tha. Bard (official artist page).

Story Topic: What makes a good neighbor?
Poet Jason Brown had his poem turned into music and spoken word by Wyld Tha Bard.

About the Story Exchange series: ViBe Creative District and Story Exchange have planned to host artists and writers at six feature events at ViBe business partners in Spring 2018 on First Fridays and Second Saturdays—district-wide celebrations. A final collaborative performance featuring all six artists and writers is scheduled for First Friday in May 2018 on the new Maser performing arts stage located at the corner of 18th Street and Cypress Avenue.
