Spring Break Art Camp 2012

Join MOCA for Spring Break Art Camp, a mini version of our popular summer program. Children and teens ages 6-16 exercise their imaginations and express themselves through art classes designed specifically to challenge and inspire.

Tuition per class: MOCA members $95/Non-members $110, unless otherwise noted.

MOCA Members Only Registration
Registration for MOCA members only begins Tuesday, February 28 at 10am. 
You must be an active MOCA member to register on this day. MOCA will accept telephone, mail, and in-person registration  on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to download registration form.

General registration begins Wednesday, February 29 at 10am.

  • Tuition and fees are due in full upon registration.

  • Minimum enrollment for courses is eight Art Campers, unless otherwise noted. Instructors may be substituted without notification. Courses are held at MOCA. Classroom activities may be photographed for MOCA promotional use.

Exhibition Explorers!

Instructor: Lea Bennett
Explore MOCA’s current exhibitions to get creative inspiration and then return to the art studio to create your own masterpieces. Get inspired by glass artist Dale Chihuly’s large, colorful chandelier, then draw and sculpt your own. Explore the playful works by artist Jared Clark and use found objects to create your own unique sculpture, and make drawings and paintings inspired by the artists featured in New Waves 2012.

Earth Wonders: Mixed Media Exploration
SB122; 12:15-3pm
Instructor: Joy Yaeger
Explore the various natural wonders of the world, looking at their unique formations, colors and shapes. Learn about artists whose work is directly connected to the environment, such as land artist Robert Smithson.  Experiment with a wide variety of materials and learn drawing, painting, and sculptural techniques to create your own natural wonders of the world.

Claymation (For ages 6-11)

Guest Instructor: Andrew Morgan
Use teamwork to write a script, sculpt characters, create props and shoot your short video, complete with sound. Each student receives a DVD of the class animations. Guests are invited to the premiere on the last day.  Members $125/Non-members $140

Spring Break in the Studio

Instructor: Donna Iona Drozda
Explore and create in the art studio and on the grounds of the museum using drawing, paint¬ing and mixed media techniques and materials such as pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor and oil pastel resist painting. Each day you’ll experience a new technique at the “imagination station” and have the freedom to learn more about where your creative interests lie.

TEENS Ages 12-16

Digital Storytelling: Make Your Own Movie Trailer
TSB121; 12:15-3pm
Instructor: Adam Parker
How can you use images to tell a story? Design and film a shot plan for the trailer of your very own movie. Film and/or photograph the elements needed including props, illustrations, live action, costumes and more. Learn how to edit the material into a short video.
