MOCA is located six blocks from the Virgnia Beach oceanfront at the intersection of I-264 West and Parks Avenue. To visit MOCA, take I-264 East toward the oceanfront. Turn left at the first stoplight on to Parks Avenue. Proceed straight after the next stoplight. Directly ahead is the MOCA parking lot.
NEW in 2014! MOCA is now on The Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) Wave Shuttle. Ride the VB Wave on Route 32 to MOCA to enjoy contemporary exhibits on loan from the Smithsonian and a hands-on interactive ARTlab, then hop back on to visit the trendy, up-scale Hilltop area for shopping and dining. Take it a little further to Virginia Beach’s premier shopping experience, Lynnhaven Mall. Daily, May – Labor Day, 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., about every hour. ADMISSION TO THE MUSEUM SHOP IS ALWAYS FREE!
MOCA's facility is one level and features both handicap accessible parking and restrooms. While MOCA's doors are not automatic, door stops are available to permit easy access upon request, and staff are available to assist you. A limited amount of courtesy wheel chairs are also provided, please call ahead or ask Visitor Services for assistance when you arrive. Guide dogs are permitted with documentation and we ask that you please notify Visitor Services upon arrival.
MOCA strives to meet the needs of every visitor and has worked with the following community partners to create opportunities for persons with disablities: SkillQuest and Art Beyond Boundaries. If you or your group require special needs, please call Visitor Services at 757-425-0000 so that we can work to make you visit to MOCA a success.
Photography is not permitted in MOCA's main galleries. Please read our Museum Rules.
MOCA creates original exhibitions and borrows traveling exhibitions from other institutions. Work comes to the museum, on loan, through the generosity of artists, museums, galleries and private collectors. The museum does not hold copyright for the works on view. With the exception of Dale Chihuly's Mille Colori, please do not photograph the artwork, unless otherwise indicated in the gallery spaces. Want to take pictures outside of the gallery?
